March 13, 2010 To Whom It May Concern: It has been a pleasure and an honor to have been a coach at Franklin High School for the past five years. Just last year, I was awarded with the head coaching position and I achieved one of my life long dreams in being able to coach a high school level basketball team here at my alma mater. I have always put all my heart and soul into coaching and teaching all my players through basketball how to better their lives. I have worked hard at teaching them many skills in life, but most ironically it is they that have taught me how to be a better person in the end. What many are not aware of is that I have been coaching practically all my life. I started at the young age of 15 as an assistant coach and gradually got my own neighborhood program up and running by age 18. I have spent roughly more than 15 years of my life dedicated towards coaching kids in basketball and I have enjoyed every moment of those years. However, there comes a time when we all must make decisions in life as to what is really best for ourselves. After all my years of coaching I have been overly dedicated to the sport and have not really made any time to live out my own life. I have come to that time in my life where I believe it is the right time for me to step down from coaching and pursue other endeavors. I always have asked every player to always be dedicated and give nothing but their best as I have done for them in coaching. However, I realize that it has paid a toll on me personally and I do not feel as though I can give that same dedication that I believe these kids so deserve. For that reason I have made a hard decision, after much debate, to step down from being head Girls Varsity coach effective immediately. I will take on a smaller role in assisting Coach Cardona with his Boys Basketball program pending permission from the school. What the future may hold I can not say, but I can always go on knowing that day in and day out every kid got the best out of me in coaching and in guidance throughout all my years. I would like to end by thanking all those that have assisted me in coaching, guided me, supported me, and to those that gave me the opportunity to pursue a life long dream. Sincerely, Jason Myung Jr
